Kelly Keihn is the owner and lead builder at Kelly O’Tools, a deck-building company serving homeowners across Central Indiana. With more than 30 years of experience in the building trades and over 100 decks completed, Kelly has direct, hands-on knowledge of structural construction, materials selection, and outdoor living design.
Kelly’s career in the building trades began in 1985 at a lumber yard, where he developed a working knowledge of materials and construction from the ground up. He went on to spend years with a larger corporation before stepping out on his own and founding Kelly O’Tools in 2017.
Kelly O’Tools was built as a family operation. While the business has evolved over the years, it continues to serve Central Indiana homeowners with the same hands-on approach Kelly has carried throughout his career.
Kelly holds a TimberTech Certified credential, reflecting advanced product knowledge and installation standards specific to composite decking. Every build meets or exceeds code requirements, with structural screws used in place of nails on every project.
That standard of construction earned Kelly a now-famous compliment from one of his first clients, a retired U.S. Army veteran, who stood on a finished deck and said it was solid enough to land a helicopter on. It became the company tagline, and it still describes how every Kelly O’Tools deck gets built.
Kelly’s company is a Yorktown, Indiana-based deck-building company serving homeowners across Central Indiana. The company builds custom decks, porches, pergolas, and outdoor living spaces. Kelly currently operates with one crew, focuses on one deck at a time, and communicates directly with clients throughout each build.
