Kelly O’Tools began with a vision to create outdoor spaces that bring families together. As a father-daughter team with more than 20 years of combined experience, we pride ourselves on a foundation of trust, hard work, and exceptional craftsmanship. Our journey started small, but with a shared commitment to quality and a passion for helping families, we have become Central Indiana’s premier deck builders.

Meet Nova, our 95-pound Labrador Retriever and the official mascot of Kelly O’Tools LLC. But he’s more than just a company symbol—he’s family. His journey to us was unexpected, but looking back, it feels like fate.
Nova’s story began when he was given as a graduation gift to a young man in a local family. Unfortunately, the son didn’t want the puppy, and the family made the difficult decision to surrender him. That’s when the Central Indiana Lab Rescue and Adoption (CILRA) stepped in, placing Nova with a foster family who could care for him until he found his forever home.
At the time, my team and I were building a deck for the assistant director of CILRA—the very person fostering Nova. While we worked, Nova would roam the farm, and every now and then, he’d visit our job site. But something remarkable happened—he ignored my crew and locked in on me. Every day, he’d greet me first, wagging his tail, eager for a few minutes of play. It wasn’t long before I realized—he had already picked his person.
The bond was undeniable. I talked to my wife (and maybe did a little convincing), and with her blessing, I made the decision to bring Nova home. That very same day, as if the universe itself approved, a red-tailed hawk soared overhead and dropped a single feather at my feet. I still have that feather to this day—a reminder that some things are just meant to be.
Now, Nova is more than our company mascot—he’s a constant companion, a reminder of the power of second chances, and proof that sometimes, the best things in life find you when you least expect them.
